Abstract
A multi-stage processing (MP) for manufacturing of large-size latex shells (LLS) from compositions based on natural latex is proposed. Compact molds with multiple ribbed (corrugated) surfaces are in use in MP to form a layer of latex gel on the surface of the mold by ion deposition (ID). Latexes Revultex LR, containing a polymer pre-vulcanized at the latex stage, and Qualitex FOR high-ammonium were in use, as well as mixtures of these latexes in various ratios. The mold with the gel semi-finished product is subjected to water syneresis (WS) to harden the gel. Next, the semi-finished product removed from the mold is inflated to form a ball with the necessary dimensions. In the inflated state, the resulting spherical shell is dried, removed from the mold and vulcanized in a folded state under traditional processing. The influence of processing parameters and composition on the duration and temperature of each stage of MP, elastic and strength properties and breaking diameter of the manufactured shells were studied. Optimal conditions for each stage of the process have been selected.References
