Abstract

Using the rubber compound NO-68-1 based on chloroprene and nitrile rubbers as a reference, investigation was made of the possibility to substitute imported brands of magnesium oxide with a domestic one. The vulcanization characteristics of rubber compounds and mechanical properties of vulcanizates containing domestically produced calcined brucite based magnesium oxide MagPro®150 instead of previously used magnesia were studied. It was found that such a replacement does not significantly affect the properties of rubber compounds and vulcanizates. After additional research, appropriate recommendations can be issued, followed by changes to the technical documentation.
